Stuck on a plot point? Experiencing writer’s block? Have a great idea, but not sure how to begin? Author’s in all stages of their writing ask me how I overcome these obstacles all the time. In this workshop we will focus on discovering the blocks to our creative process, and how to develop our process in order to keep creativity flowing even when our process changes over time. Participants examine the question: What IF? And learn how to apply it to their storytelling to begin an outline for their first short story or novel.

Saturday, February 18, 2017 – 10:30am-12:30pm

SEVEN POINTS TO PROPEL YOUR WORDS INTO CREATION
Participants create or strengthen an existing outline of a short story or novel using seven plot points. Discover how this simple outline tool can be used to plot a novel or short story, write a synopsis, and ensure you’ve got everything you need to bring your story to life, as well as pitch it to an agent or publisher. Participants will leave the workshop with a working outline of their book.

Saturday, February 25, 2017 – 10:30am-12:30pm

POLISH ‘TIL IT SHINES!
In this workshop, authors will develop their editing toolbox, learn how to use the five senses to enhance their story scenes, and discuss publishing options for their finished product. Authors are encouraged to bring the first two pages of their book to begin the editing process. The best gifts in life are surprises…

Surprise! Thanks to a blizzard named Blitzen, Christie McQuade can’t make it home for Christmas. Stranded in an airport, things look bleak…until she runs into delicious Deputy Damian Reade, who along with his four-year-old son, Eli, is likewise wondering how to salvage his holidays.

A ’57 Chevy Bel Air christened “Vixen” is their last hope. Christie’s not always the trusting type…but after a background check through her investigative brother clears Damian – and after all, how can a man who’s so patient and loving with his son be dangerous? – she joins them on a Cross Country Christmas adventure filled with fun and surprises…not the least of which is the powerful chemistry between Damian and Christie.

Chemistry is one thing. Heart-tugging is another. And damned if both father and son aren’t soon tugging on Christie’s previously-broken heart-strings.

A child’s unshakeable faith in Santa, his seemingly impossible Christmas wishes of the Jolly Old Man, and a whole lot of holiday magic may lead Damian and Christie to the biggest surprise of all…love.

‘Twas the night before Christmas and all that was heard were screams of delight with love as the safe word.

The night before Christmas Davis Cathal decides to recreate a scene for his sub, Samantha Merry, based on a deliciously sexy poem she wrote for him as a gift. Inspired by the season of giving, he sets up the perfect scene to reward the love of his life and give her the gift that keeps on coming.

EXCERPT:

‘Twas the night before Christmas and Sir smiled to himself,

feeling very much like the grand, jolly old elf.

His cock twitched in his pants as he thought of his girl,

naughty thoughts invading his mind in a whirl.

As a finishing touch, he put a bow on the gift,

Love filled his heart and his spirits did lift,

Hoping she would be as excited as he,

to try out what he’d bought and put under the tree.

He smoothed a palm down the length of the bench,

so impatient to tie up his lusty wench,

and tease her, and please her, ‘til she begged for more,

filling her, using her – oh the ideas he had in store!

The door to the dungeon opened, and Davis’ body took up the space. Her heart skipped a beat. He’d dressed in a suit, no tie, with the top two buttons undone. She loved that look on him, and her pussy pulsed in agreement.

“What happened, my love?” he asked.

So much for the surprise. Despite her arousal, tears filled her eyes, and her cheeks flushed with heat. Forlorn at ruining his surprise, she sniffed to keep from crying.

Davis crouched in front of her, cupping her cheek in his hand. Then he bent forward and kissed her forehead. “It’s okay. No need to be upset. I’ve got you.”

She leaned into his touch, her sadness fading. A stray tear escaped anyway.

Davis brushed it away with his thumb. “Let me help you gather up these things and then I have something to show you.”

Love for her Dom filled her heart, replacing any lingering sadness. “I wanted to surprise you,” she murmured.

“I know.” He placed another loving kiss to her forehead. “And the poem was beautiful. Thank you.”

“You’re welcome,” she said, her voice sounding small even to her ears. In his presence, her body began to relax after the harrowing drive.

“You’re not going to be a pouty girl, now are you?” he teased.

A smile lifted one corner of her mouth, and she gestured with one hand. “I don’t mean to be. It’s just the crowds, then the snowstorm made me a bit on edge on the drive home, then I trip and spill all of my stuff once I get here…ugh. You weren’t supposed to see any of this yet, not until I wrapped it.” Despite her best efforts, her lower lip stuck out in a pout.

Davis leaned in and nipped her lip. “You’re cute when you pout.” He stood and loomed over her. “All right, Sammie-girl—take off your coat, get it all together, and I’ll be back in a moment.”

“Yes, Sir.”

“Good girl.” And with that he disappeared into the dungeon.

__________________________________________________________________

Davis slipped off her panties, and used the cuffs he’d set on the table to attach her ankles to the back legs of the horse. Then he cuffed her wrists tight to the front post. Running a hand over her back, he could feel every muscle in her body relax. He loved to feel her reaching for that space inside of herself, and he felt blessed to be the one she trusted to bring her there.

An idea struck him, and he hurried over to the dresser and pulled a ball gag out of one of the drawers. Her eyes widened in delight when he brought it over and stuck it in her mouth, securing it around her head. He wiped a bit of saliva that had already pooled at the corner of her mouth.

He reached over to the table, picked up the flogger, and waved it in front of her face. She moaned, her eyes rolling back in her head as he brushed the strands over her face.

Davis trailed the leather strands over her spine as he walked around her to the back of the horse. Her wet cunt glistened in the lights from the Christmas tree. I love how wet she gets from even the thought of a good flogging.

In a teasing manner, he brushed the flogger over her ass cheeks, lightly tapping them against her skin. Samantha moaned louder.

He raised the flogger up into the air. As he brought it down onto her flesh, he said, “Merry Christmas, my girl. Tomorrow you’ll be sore.”

HEAT, HEART & HUMOR! Toys, Sex, and Other Ways to Spice Up Your Life

BOOK 4 IN THE SERIES COMING SOON!!

Love is the key spice in the recipe of life.

Max Harder long suspected that his ex-girlfriend, Callie, had broken up with him because of another man—her best friend, Tom. In an effort to understand Callie better, Max befriends Tom, and a new friendship is forged. Max sets in motion their plan to show Callie she doesn’t have to choose between them, and that her wildest dreams can come true.

But when Max’s pet capuchin monkey falls ill, their love-lives get turned upside down by more than sex toys and wild fantasies. The pair discovers that family comes in all shapes and sizes, and love is the key spice in the recipe of life.

EXCERPT #1:

Candlelight flickered from the living room, causing shadows to dance over the walls. The scent of vanilla wafted toward her. An assortment of brightly colored carnations—her favorite flower—were displayed in a vase on an end table. Strawberries and cream in a serving bowl sat on the coffee table. This had all the markings of a romantic seduction. Not what she’d had in mind when he’d called.

The scene before her confused her fragile ego. On the one hand, she was touched he’d gone to so much trouble to remember her favorite things. On the other, she didn’t feel a booty call was worth this much effort.

The urge to run away overrode all other feelings. She whipped around only to bump smack dab into his big wall of a body. He caught her elbows when she stumbled, and he steadied her.

“I know what this looks like,” he said, as if reading her mind. “I’m not trying to seduce you, Callie. I wanted to set up some of your favorite things so you’d feel comfortable, so you could relax while we talked.” He stepped closer to her until his lips were tracing the shell of her ear. “Don’t get me wrong—I’d love to sink my cock into your juicy, wet cunt.” She shivered at his words, and she felt him smile against her ear. “I see you like that thought too. I haven’t forgotten how much you like me talking dirty in your ear.” Max held her at arm’s length. “But we need to talk first.”

EXCERPT #2:

Callie swallowed hard. “I want you both. I need you both in my life.”

Tom chuckled. “We are so glad to hear you say that.” He slung an arm around her shoulder, and hugged her to him.

Callie slumped into him, and yawned. Max grinned at her, and chucked her on the chin. “Why don’t we get some sleep?”

Her eyebrows scrunched together. “Together?”

Max shrugged. “Why not? I’ve got a king-sized bed, and I think we both want to hold you.” He stood and offered his hand. Tom pushed himself off the couch and held out a hand too. “What do you say?” Max asked.

Callie grinned from ear to ear and took each of their hands. “I’d like that.”

Max’s heart pumped a happy rhythm in his chest as they pulled her to her feet. As he led the way to his bedroom, he remarked, “You know my sister is in a committed threesome, and they’re happy. I’m sure we can make this work.”

“Yeah,” Callie said, “but I thought the three of them were in to each other. I don’t really see you two being…in to each other.”

Tom laughed. “Can’t say as I want to fuck you, bro.”

Max snorted. “Same here.”

Callie stopped short, holding up their love train. “Then why are we doing this?”

Max shook his head, and pulled her into his room. “This isn’t about Tom and me wanting a sexual relationship with each other. It’s about us wanting an intimate relationship with you. It means we share you. And we don’t have to be sexually attracted to each other to have a bond with you, or for us to love each other as friends.”

“Yeah.” Tom scooped her into his arms, and she shrieked. He carried her over to the bed and tossed her onto the mattress. “Max is a great friend, and I can see why you love him so much. When I got over my jealousy, I realized he and I could be good friends too. And if it means I don’t have to lose you, it’s a win-win all around.”

Chocolate, Sex and Other Tasty Treats for the Soul

CSAOTTFTS72

Blurb:

As far as Marnie is concerned—two’s company, and three is never a crowd.

Marnie Harder wants to find love like everyone else. The only catch—she desires to be the third in couple. She has her sights set on her hot neighbor, Madison Williams, and her boyfriend, Drake Ellison. The night Madison knocks on Marnie’s door to borrow some sugar, Marnie gets a taste of something sweet. And when Madison’s boyfriend joins the party, Marnie binges on more than the candy he brings with him.

Leave it to her family and her brother’s meddling monkey to spoil the morning after. But in the wake of candy wrappers, wild passion, and broken furniture, will Marnie be left craving more, or will love sweeten the deal?

Excerpt:

A flush stole over her body at the sight of her sexy, redheaded neighbour, Madison Williams. Calm down, woman. She has a boyfriend, remember?
Madison and her tall, blond, blue-eyed god-of-a-boyfriend, Drake Ellison, had moved into the apartment next to hers a month ago. Upon first glance at the couple, Marnie had been mesmerized. She’d even done something lame and baked a cake for them as a housewarming gift once the couple had settled in.
The visit had been difficult for Marnie, tongue-tied and incoherent in their presence. Her attraction to the two of them rocketed off the charts, and she hadn’t found the courage to express her interest. Despite that fact, she’d visited with them numerous times since delivering the cake.
Marnie had heard their passionate moans emanating from their apartment at all hours of the day. They didn’t seem to mind if the entire building heard them having sex. Guilt shot through her stomach when she recalled a time or two she’d gotten off to the sound of their lovemaking. She shook her head. They haven’t given me any indication they are anything but straight. No wonder I have a hard time talking to them. I’ve got to get these stupid fantasies out of my head.
Madison knocked again, and Marnie put a hand over her heart, which was trying to beat its way out of her chest. Her cunt pulsed as she caught sight of Madison’s tongue darting out to wet her lips. An image of Madison on her knees between Marnie’s thighs flashed through her mind, making her swallow a groan.
Get a grip! Tightening the sash on her robe, she checked to make sure all body parts were covered. She could pretend she didn’t have the hots for Madison. Sure, I can do that. Madison probably needs something. I will pretend I don’t need her.
Cripes. Marnie gulped, unlocked the door, and drew back the chain. Opening the door a crack, she squeaked, “Can I help you?” Shoot me now.
When Madison’s gaze dipped in the direction of the V in her robe, Marnie’s nipples pebbled. Her gaze met Marnie’s again when she spoke. “I hope so. I’m looking for some sugar.”

Book of Lan

thebookoflan300

Lan thought life passed her by, so she decided to catch up with it.

Middle-age divorcee Lan Bellas-Ducharme comes to realize she is not the “Plain Jane” she had been made to believe she was. Suddenly faced with an abundance of choices, she explores sexuality and comes to realize that her actuality is obscured by the many layers of superficial integrity imposed on her over the years.

Eventually, Lan realizes it is not her charge to fit societal norms, and accepts her long-time friend Kate as a loving companion. But Lan needs one more thing to find absolution—a true loving man. With Kate’s help, she realizes that she must put her faith in the ageless power gifted to mankind at the dawn of time—her sexuality. She shows her truth, and accepts what it brings to her.

EXCERPT:

Such Choices we make—Such Things define us

Brett walked Lan to Kate’s door at eight-fifteen. Tom answered, peering at Lan with an ogling gaze as she offered her hand. He led them into the living room, where he got his first look at Kate, who sat listening to music on an MP3 player. Her dark blue eyes sparkled as she stood to greet them, offering him a brief, flirting smile as she greeted Lan with a kiss on the lips.

“You look so sweet in that!” she exclaimed as she looked Lan up and down.

“You too,” replied Lan, noting the tennis outfit she wore.

Patting his back, Tom quipped, “They bought matching outfits this morning.”

Brett wasn’t aware of the girl’s plans for the evening. He was looking forward to a short visit, after which he would invite Lan back to his place and try to repeat their last date, but he found himself gawking as the girls sat next to each other—their hair in ponytails, their feet in sneakers with ankle high socks.

Tom handed each of the girls a glass of white wine, then turned to Brett asking, “Wine or beer?”

“Beer’s fine,” he replied.

Handing Brett a bottle, Tom asked, “Sure I can’t interest you in a wine? You might not want beer on your breath… considering the occasion.”

“Occasion?” he asked, “What occasion? Did I miss something?”

Noting his dumbfounded look, Kate leaned forward and asked, “Yeah, Tom… what occasion?” Turning to Lan, she urged, “Hey, help me in the kitchen for a sec.”

Curiosity gripped him as they scooted off. Listening carefully, he heard Kate ask, “Didn’t you tell him?”

“Tell him what?” asked Lan, “This was your arrangement.”

His eyes widened as he heard Kate’s muffled voice say, “Your panties… hand ’em over.”

Dumbfounded, he looked at Tom with wide eyes and asked quietly, “Did I hear that right?”

“Shh,” urged Tom, “Listen.”

“Kate,” whined Lan, “You first.”

“There,” she answered, “Satisfied? Now hand ’em over.”

He heard a drawer slam closed as Kate quipped, “We’ll see how long it takes for someone to notice.”

“Don’t notice right away,” urged Tom, “Play along.”

Kate strutted back with Lan sauntering behind. She stood in front of them and announced, “Lan’s panties are in the utensil drawer.”

“Kate!” blurted Lan, swatting her.

“Aren’t they always?” asked Tom.

Brett spoke up, “Now I know I’m missing something.”

Kate approached him as Lan sat on the sofa offering Tom a weak punch on the arm. She leaned in smiling and asked in a low tone, “So, Brett, what were you thinking of doing tonight?”

Sipping the beer Tom offered him he answered, “I was coming to meet you guys…then I figured we’d go back to my place.”

“What were you going to do at your place that…you couldn’t do here?”

“Well…I’ll be honest. I’m hoping…you know…”

But as he answered, his attention was drawn to Tom’s hand caressing Lan’s thigh. As Kate sat on the arm of the chair he asked, “Are we maybe going to do here…what I was going to…” His eyes darted around the room from one soul to the next as he sipped his beer.

Lan looked over to him with her chin on Tom’s shoulder, as if looking for him to answer his own question. He put the beer on the coffee table stating as calmly as he could, “Well…I suppose I shouldn’t drink then.” He sat back in the chair, nervously asking, “So… is there some order of operations or something?”

“Stop, silly.” quipped Kate, leaning in, forehead to forehead. “It’s new to me too,” she whispered, “So let’s figure it out.”

“How about those two?” He asked as their attention turned to Tom kissing Lan’s neck on the sofa.

She whispered back, “They just look like they know what they’re doing because Lan read a book…they’re as confused as we are.”

He watched in amazement as Lan pulled off her top. A wave of heat overcame him at the thought of what was about to transpire. This was something he had longed for and sought, even at the expense of being told he was a real douche. He gave up asking for it when one too many girls broke up with him for doing so, but now he stumbled right into his fantasy, thinking to himself, these things really do happen as blood surged into his manhood, engorging it to bone-hard warmth.

His attention was pleasantly interrupted by warm breath on his left ear. He turned to meet Kate’s sparkling eyes. Leaning in for a kiss, he was surprised as she pushed out her hand to stop him.

“The only thing we don’t do is kiss,” she whispered, “Not on the lips… that’s for lovers.”

“Fair enough,” he mumbled, placing his palm across her naked right thigh and sliding his hand between her knees. She gave a peep of approval as her hand fumbled on the buttons of his shirt. Brett finished unbuttoning it himself, discarding it as she leaned in to kiss his chest and belly. He settled back in the chair, anxiously awaiting her carnal advance as his phallus throbbed beneath his pants.

She moved in front and dropped to her knees. As he raised his hips, she tugged his shorts off, leaving him in his boxers. He took a brief look at Lan, reclined into the sofa with her legs slightly agape, Tom knelt before her, kissing her knees and thighs.

His gaze shifted to Kate, smiling up at him as she massaged his raging wand through his boxers. As she pulled the elastic waistband down a few inches, his swollen head emerged. Her eyes opened wide as she laid eyes on her first extramarital indulgence.

He gave a soft, low groan as the moist firmness of her tongue flicked the tip of his pole, pressed against his fuzzy pelvis by the elastic waistband. She dropped them a little further—halfway down the shaft as it jumped, trying to free itself.

He shot a look to the sofa to see if Tom had dropped his pants, hoping to know if his length and girth measured up. But his shorts were still on. His only reference, for now at least, would be Kate’s reaction. He looked down again just as she teased his length—pulling the waistband down and pressing her tongue against the base of his engorged post, then working her way to the tip, where she offered a sassy smile, kissing the over-sized bulb.

He took in a deep breath as he felt her pull his boxers off. His stiff meat pointed skyward, wagging back and forth until her small hand wrapped around his meaty girth. Tucking his chin to his chest, he watched half his throbbing post disappear under the blonde head at his lap and felt the moist warmth of her inviting mouth as she took him in. Bolts of bliss ran the length of his living shaft as she bathed it in the moist tissues inside her cheeks. As she bobbed up and down, her blonde hair fell over his tummy and thighs. He stared at the eroticism so suddenly offered only moments ago, stunned that it was being so pleasantly fulfilled.

Again he looked to the sofa, where Lan lay back with her legs spread wide, her butt at the edge of the cushion. Her feet were tip-toe on the floor with little sneaker-socks on them and she was still wearing that cute tennis-style skirt, now folded up over her tummy while Tom tasted her pelvis like a honey pot. Most of her face lay hidden behind her full auburn hair, but he saw her mouth was wide open and could picture her pleasured look as Tom swabbed his tongue over the sensitive tissue of her divine invitation.

Your wife is giving me head, he thought as he watched Tom pressing his lips against Lan’s apex, She’s sucking me—wrapping her lips around me. All her thoughts are on my meat and you don’t mind. But as Lan groaned and flexed her spine forward, thrusting her legs wide for him, he realized the erotic glory of the trade this couple was making.

Kate orchestrated a glorious medley of bobs, strokes and tongue dabbles. He groaned long and low at her carnal effort. Still holding him tightly between her lips, she fixed her deep blue gaze on him. As he peered into the black dots of her pupils, he wondered what thoughts could be firing behind them. Was she a slave to ecstasy, he wondered, or did she simply crave new genealogy? Perhaps it was both, or perhaps even more. With her sparkling gaze still fixed, she hummed as if seeking a reaction. “God. that’s incredible,” he moaned to acknowledge her.

Kate stood up and stepped out of her skirt, tossing it onto the heap of clothes that had been growing beside the chair. Motioning him to sit still, she walked over to Tom, tapping his shoulder and shooing him from between Lan’s legs with a smile.

She closed Lan’s legs enough to pull her skirt off before she knelt, taking Tom’s place between her knees. The men watched with wide eyes and open mouths, each taking rapid, shallow breaths as her blonde mane fell across Lan’s sculptured pelvis. She hummed sweetly into the vessel before her, stopping for just a moment to address the men. “Are you guys just gonna stand there?” she asked.

Tom offered him a gentleman’s hand gesture, so he sprang to his feet and scrambled into position behind Kate, grasping the soft skin atop the crests of her hips. His heart thumped in his chest as he felt the welcoming wet heat of her womb atop his swollen pole. She gave a womanly purr as the engorged head parted her labia. He scanned up her backside to Lan—her navel barely showing through the flaxen shimmers of blonde hair washing over it. Her breasts jiggled in circular motion as Kate played music within her. Her eyes were open only slightly—her mouth agape in a soft moan as he pressed forward into the warm wetness of Kate’s velvety vessel.

“You okay?” he asked down.

“Get that thing in me!” replied Kate in a muffled response.

Tightening the grip around her waist, he rocked forward, pushing his sizeable girth into tissue touched by only one man before him. Kate moaned in unison with Lan as he pushed again, this time deep into her velvety depths. With a short adjustment of his hips he found himself buried completely in her feminine heat—his sac resting against her soaking slit.

Knowing Tom would soon tire of watching, he began a steady stroke, diving into her welcoming privacy and enjoying the wanton feel of a new woman’s juices bathing him. His mind swirled in delightful wonder and anticipation of things to come. He was taking a beautiful blonde—mating with her in front of her approving husband who would in turn please the woman who had for so long infatuated him, then he would have her too.

EXCERPT:
“I know.” He cuddled her close to him once more. She allowed him to pull her close, even though her body remained rigid. “It’s a gift I treasure.”
“Then what do you need from me?” she asked, her voice soft.
He considered for a moment before speaking. “To listen. To consider that once this is over, we continue a personal relationship.”
“I see.”
Silence descended, and he waited for her to speak. Long moments passed.
“There’s just one problem.” Her voice sounded sad when she spoke.
He combed back some of her hair, and placed a kiss to the top of her head. “And what’s that?”
“You’ve rescued me. I don’t want a white knight. I never have. I’ve prided myself on being able to take care of myself. How do I ever accept that you swept in and saved me when I couldn’t save myself?” Sobs began to wrack her body again.
Perplexed, Saul held her close, allowing her to cry again. They certainly held differing perspectives on the current situation. While he viewed her with an inner strength he’d seen in few people, she saw herself as weak because she’d gotten in trouble and hadn’t known how to ask for help. While there were many things he could give to her, she had to figure this one out on her own.
When her sobs subsided, he held her away from him, thumbs brushing away her tears. He opened his mouth to speak, but she cut him off. “No,” she sobbed. “You need to understand. I have been drawn to you since the night we met. I didn’t want to be. Yes, it’s part me being stubborn, but it’s also a matter of me knowing I can take care of myself. Da Silva wanted to hurt me, I ran away because I didn’t know who to turn to or what to do. Then you showed up and rescued me. How will I ever feel safe on my own again?” He tried to speak again, but she interrupted him, continuing to rant. “I care for you, Saul. I have trusted you to be my Sir under the circumstances. What if something happens to you at work? What if you have to go away? I don’t like being vulnerable like this. I don’t want to lo—” She stopped short at her own revelation, and struggled to get away from him.
“You don’t want to feel love because you’re afraid it’s not real.”
Fear shone in her eyes. “What if it’s not?”
He held her firm, and stared directly into her eyes. “Maybe it’s a matter of your perspective.”
“What are you talking about?” Desperation tinged her voice.
“You fled because you didn’t know who to turn to, or who to trust, but that’s not true. You trusted your parents and went to them. When I arrived, you chose to trust me. You didn’t expect me to save you. You made a choice, Denise.” He observed her swallow hard as she allowed his words to sink in. He continued, “You chose to ask me to fulfill your needs. You chose to talk to me about everything. Some of the circumstances happened without your consent, but you have made your own choices on what to do about it. Not everything has been out of your control. Loving me isn’t—it’s a choice.”
One corner of her mouth twitched up in a sad, half-smile. “Love doesn’t always feel like a choice. It kind of hits you right in the heart when you least expect it.”
His smile widened. “True. I’ll give you that.” He caressed her cheeks with his thumbs. “But it is a choice on what we want to do with the love we feel for someone.”
She closed her eyes, her voice barely audible when she spoke. “I really don’t want to run away.”
“Me either.”
Opening her eyes, she studied his features, her fingers playing with his goatee again. “So, what do we do?”
He drew in a fortifying breath. There’d be no guarantee it would work, but like anything in life, certain risks were worth taking. “I have an idea, but I can’t guarantee you’ll like it.”
Her jaw set in determination. “Let’s hear it.”

New friendships forged, old connections strengthened, and the past gets cleared in their Hearts. As Shadow brings the heat to their summer, Kayla and Kaleb fight back with the only weapon strong enough to defeat the darkness—Love.

EXCERPT:

Kaleb stood in the middle of Kayla’s back lawn, fists clenched at his side, body rigid, seething with rage. Growling, his gaze zeroed in on Ahren who crouched inside an energetic cage. The makeshift prison had Kayla’s signature all over it.

Pride surged up inside him at her handiwork. Love slithered in between the anger like sunrays through cloud cover. He grimaced in pain as his Light fought off the darkness. Shuddering, he refocused on Ahren, rage once more burning bright.

Snarling, Ahren crawled on the ground like a caged beast. Kaleb answered in kind, then pointed a finger at his brother. “We settle this now!”

Ahren swiped out a hand, fingertips grazing his prison of Light. A crackling sound filled the air around them. “Tell them to let me out and it will be my pleasure!”

“Do it!” Kaleb roared, addressing the guardians who had now come to stand as a barrier between him and Ahren.

Murmured discussion travelled round the group, further agitating the two men itching to fight. Through the red haze of his anger, Kaleb caught snippets of their conversation.

“We need to keep them apart until they’re fully healed,” Dawn said.

“I agree,” Marabel concurred.

“We’ll make sure they don’t hurt each other,” Trey put in, smoothing back his blonde hair.

“And one of you get Kayla,” Henry said. “Perhaps she can get him to see reason.”

“No!” Kayla’s shout caused everyone to turn in her direction. With slow, deliberate steps she walked down the porch stairs and onto the lawn. Ahren’s prison disappeared with a wave of her hand.

Ahren jumped to his feet with a howl of triumph. Kaleb noted the wild gleam in his eyes, and conjured a fireball to hurl at his friend. He wouldn’t allow the other man to escape until they’d settled their score. Years ago, Kaleb had felt abandoned by his friends, and anger at the Universe for the unfairness of his lot in life bubbled up from the bottom of his heart. Since that moment, he’d sought to protect those he cared about so they wouldn’t have reason to leave. A desperate move on his part, and it was time to unleash his fury.

Kaleb’s attention was diverted from the inner workings of his Egoic mind when Ahren rounded on Kayla. “You’re an idiot,” Ahren spat in her direction. “You think I’ll stick around now that I’m free?”

Once more, anger overrode Kaleb’s consciousness. Protect her at all costs. He wouldn’t allow Ahren to hurt anyone else, especially Kayla. He raised his arm with the intention to release the fireball directly at his old friend.

Without batting an eye, or looking in his direction, Kayla raised a hand and brought her fingers together in a closing motion, distinguishing Kaleb’s fireball. He blinked in surpriseattempting to conjure more in the palms of his hands, but he couldn’t do it. Mumbled chanting reached his ears, and he glanced over to the porch where Peggy stood as if in a trance. Somehow she’d blocked his powers with her magic.

With her attention still on Ahren, Kayla addressed him, her voice calm, cool, and collected. “Calling me an idiot is passing judgment.”

Ahren snarled in response, and advanced on her. Waving her hand, she threw up a wall of energy between them. The force of it struck Ahren, and he crumpled to his knees. Panting, he glanced up at her, expression wary.

Kaleb watched as she crouched down in front of him, and said, “All four of you—go. Margaret and I have this.”

Cautious agreement travelled round the group of guardians, but nevertheless, they stepped aside, and walked together toward the back porch.

“Now,” Kayla went on, speaking to Ahren again. “We will do this my way.”

“The hell we will,” Ahren growled.

A quarterback facing the end of his career must come to peace with his past, and accept his present, before he can move on with his future.
Mitch Ryland accomplished what his father said he never would—he made something of himself.
When his wife suggests she’d like to start a family, Mitch is thrown for a loop. He’s never told her about his life before he ended up with his foster parents or his plans never to become a father. So when he’s taken out of the game, his failings from the past come back to haunt him, and Mitch blames his injury on his loss of focus. He’s unprepared for his career as a professional quarterback to be over. Nor is he ready to tell his wife about why football is so important to him. He’d rather put emotional and physical distance between them and focus on getting back in the game.
Serena Ryland has dreamed of becoming a mother. But when she mentions the idea to her husband, he freezes her out and she has no idea why. She’s worried that if they don’t start talking soon, she’ll lose him forever. When he refuses to come home to mend from an injury, she takes matters into her own hands, determined to spend more time with him, hoping to reignite the romance in their relationship. But she’s unprepared for the things she learns on this trip. Her husband has been carrying a few secrets that just might change the outlook of their future.
Reader Advisory: This book contains oral sex in a public environment and light bondage.
Publisher’s note: This book is part of a series but can be read as a standalone title.

Short Excerpt
Mitch sighed and shifted in his chair. The knee he could handle. Bruised and sore, he’d limp for a few days, but it was his shoulder he worried about most. This was the third time he’d dislocated it. The first official time the team doctor knew about. His fingers itched to massage the joint, but he didn’t dare. No way in hell would he show any sign of weakness. The one thing his father and grandfather had drilled into him from a young age. A lesson he’d learned well.
“It’s more than just a simple sprain or a bad bruise, Mitch, and you know it. This is potentially career ending, especially if you don’t do as I’ve instructed. You need to rest it. Whatever you’ve been doing to keep this from us isn’t helping. Today’s proof of that. And it’s not going to get better until you do something about it. And you can’t do something about it until you’re not on the field every day.”
Noah took a deep breath, his expression full of compassion. “Apply ice to reduce the swelling three times a day for fifteen to twenty minutes. That shoulder needs to be kept stable. We need the swelling to go down so we can take a good look at it. I want you to wear an arm sling for the next three weeks.
“I’ve scheduled an appointment for you three days from now then we’ll have a better idea what we’re dealing with. You’ll probably need to go through some therapy regardless of whether you end up heading down the surgery path or not. With some rest, maybe some therapy, and a light training regiment, we’ll see if there’s been any change.”
Panic swept through Mitch. He clenched his hands into fists on his thighs. “And if it doesn’t get better?”
“We’ll discuss that when the time comes.”
Mitch, well aware of the consequences, filled in the blanks. Surgery. Rehab. Months off the field. If he ended this season on the injury reserve list for next season, he’d miss training camp and wouldn’t be allowed to practice or play until the doctor cleared him. And if he did practice and aggravated the injury, or possibly made it worse, he’d be out for the rest of that season. Or longer.
On top of that, he’d have to deal with his standings. Out of play meant his rating would be affected and his stats would tank—and not only his. The team would take a hit as well. He’d disappoint the fans. He’d disappoint his friends and family.
He might never be the same afterward.
He’d end up a nobody. Just like he’d been told.
His football career may already be at the top of the spiral, just waiting for that push to send him off the edge and into the vortex. He’d always compared his life to a house of cards. Painstaking to build, easy to destroy. The king sits perched at the top, but then one slip, one tiny tug or poke on one of those cards and the whole thing would come tumbling down.
A tremor now rocked the house beneath his feet.

Author Bio
Shoes are her addiction, but books are her passion. Anne Lange grew up with a love for reading. If you take a close look, she’s got either a book, her Kindle or her Kobo nearby at all times. You know, just in case there’s time to sneak in a chapter or ten. Anne reads many genres of romance, but prefers to write sexy stories, often with a dash of humor, and usually with a side of those sinful pleasures your mom never told you about. And always with a happily ever after.

While embarking on this wild journey of becoming a romance author, Anne juggles a full time job and a family. Though not always successfully. Who needs a clean house every day? And what’s wrong with cereal for dinner? She lives in Ontario, Canada with her wonderfully supportive husband, three awesome kids who are growing up way too fast, and the family pets, Rocky the bearded dragon and Lily the chocolate lab.
